do any of you have any input on putting a 200 or 250 in an 89 rx-7

The other issue you would need to address is your local emmissions laws. Unless you live in the boonies, you can't put an engine in your car that is older than said car or of worse pollution production.
Build the hell out of a rotary & you can smoke most cars on the rod. One moving part. Hard to go wrong. The straight six is not the answer to everything. No, really, it's not.

I saw a fiero beat the pants off a mustang 5.0 and i have a friend that ice races a supercharged MR2. He can whip a nicly modified mustang anytime. I think speed can be associated with any vehicle if the desire is there. Not to mention the $$$$$
