I posted the following on the "300/240" forum with limited success, I've copied and pasted it here in the hopes someone is familiar with what I want to do:

Well, I currently have a 240 head at the machine shop for several mods (SBC valves, screw in studs, etc.) and it's going on my 300 six when finished. I have decided to freshen up the bottom end, ARP main studs, rods, pistons, the works ! I'm wondering what's available for the bottom end in the way of rod/piston combo's, I know there are guys out there using +.040 351w forged flat top pistons which are off the shelf ( great way to save money) and I think this is the way I'm going to go as I'd like to use a 100hp shot of NOS, is there an after market H-beam or beefier I-beam that'll fit ? How about the size of the Windsor pistons? What compression height? What pin size for bushed rod, etc ? I like the idea of using "off the shelf" parts (i.e. 351w pistons) as it's an enormous money saver and I don't want to spend a bloody fortune for "custom size" parts. If anyone out there can give me any info it'd be greatly appreciated ! Thanks

All 240/300 rods work with all 240/300 cranks, its a matter of rod length and compression height as to whether it will work in your combo.
