6 cylinder - 6 into 1 headers

Hi guys has anyone installed headers on their 200ci mustang? i have a 66 model and i installed headers yesterday. They look great but my problem is the throttle linkage arm is sitting above the starter motor but is below the 1st and 2nd port of the new manifold, it doesnt have enough clearance to move up and down, therefore i cant accelerate propperly as the arm doesnt have enough room to move. has anyone else come across this problem? is there a modification i need to make or have i done something wrong during installation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!Cheers Stephen :)

Hi Stephen - where are you from? Welcome to the club.

Many people have gone the throttle cable route to eliminate any interference. Cobrasix had a nice write up on his website on how to do this. You will need a V8 accelerator pedal from a 65-70 mustang to replace the current pedal and rod linkage.

Here is a link to cobrasix'swebsite and write up:

I put a header on my '65. The throttle rod goes on top of the header. I bought mine from Clifford, back in the dark days before Classic Inline. Anyway, I did have to use a Multi-directional Inertial Device (BFH in some parts of the country) to "massage" the one header tube to get the rod low enough. The throttle plate would not open 90* until I "modified" the header tube; but it was a small dent...
