I've got the 200 out of the Fairmont, MOST of the filth blasted off of it, and in the shop.
Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the throttle. The 200 came with a Carter YF(A?), which needs it's throttle pulled from the driver's side.
The 170 throttle assembly work so I either have to fab up something or find a used one at a yard.
Does anyone have experience in this, or know what aftermarket parts to buy?

You can install a Cable Throttle set up (that is what I have done many times using all the wrecking yard parts from a Ford or Mercury Donor, be sure to get the pedal and all the brackets along with the cable too) a Cable is a good way to go puts less strain on the Carbs Throttle Arm so less wear on the Carb Body. LoCar makes aftermarket Cables and Pedals too. If you want to work with your stock Rod linkage you will need to use a Bell Crank to change the direction from a Push to a Pull. Best of luck

check some pic of other guys (not just econo box) to see what was there, new uses of ol equp. Some have an over the vc bracket (late models) I'm not sure will help (but did on mine w/a switch from rod to cable). Lockar too expensive here.

We have old threads on "switch from rod to cable throttle". Use "Search" function above (some inc the importance of bub's proviso above w/use of gas peddle).

"...what... parts to buy?..."
late Mav, may B 1st yr or 2 of LTD/Marquis (fox bodied) ie '83/4 only (3.3/200), Grenade-a, probably not a Pinto as only 4 cyls.

Thanks chad.
I have the Falcon book - it's pretty light on cable throttle info. People suggest buying it so often around these parts I might add it to my avatar, lol.

I've looked at the pics of customer cars on VI - pretty sparse as well. And I did search before I came here - looks like there's exactly one throttle cable build complete with pulley, and I'm not doing that. There's got to be a better way than using bicycle cable. Hell, I COULD fab something out of bicycle cable, but I want something that looks nice and not like a cobble job.

As far as $, Lokar isn't out of the ball park, it's just getting them or someone else to build a cable assembly 55" long. I'm pretty sure I could use the pedal/cable assembly out of a 65-67 big block six van - but cables for the 65-67 are usually trashed or unobtainium new.

I here just trying to tickle the ears of folks who might have done this before and maybe jog their memory.

Many thanks.

Seth (is it 'economan' or sompin?) is very giving'n helpful. He put the 250 in his '65 (or so). Search
function by his name. No help? he'd respond to PM, I'm sure (gabbed abt puttin my bronk bumper on his, sod me my 'late Mav' motor mounts). eep cjeckin in here~
