64 Comet meets 82 Mustang?

I have a 64 Comet 2 door convertible with a 200CI. I want to build a moderate 6 cylinder to replace the one currently running the car. I have a line on a 82 Mustang with a 200ci and automatic transmision for $550 and would like to know if this is a "better" engine/transmision combination that is in my 64. (Pretty sure I know the answer, but I am a newbie and bow to the masters)
Thanks guys
Brian

8) your 82 is likely going to be a big bell low mount starter block, thus if you want to build it for your comet, go ahead, just remember that when you do the swap you will need to use the transmission that comes in the mustang, and the oil pan that is in the comet. personally i would rebuild the engine in the comet and drive the mustang, then after the comet is done, rebuild the mustang engine and drive the comet. your choice either way.

A few minor issues for the big bell:

1) You might have to massage the tunnel for the larger bell. Some have not had this problem though.

2) Exhaust will have to be routed under the bell on the passenger side due to clearance issues there as well.
