'67 200 won't start.

OK, guys and gals,
To say I am a novice is putting it lightly.
My son and I (OK, mostly me) are working on a '67-200 coupe. I can't get the car to start. Here's what I've checked so far....
battery-good
starter-good
solenoid-good
coil-good
The carb jet puts out fuel when I throttle it.
All hoses appear to be in place and clamped.
I did notice that while trying to start fuel filter (between pump and carb) fills up, then empties again once I stop trying.
Any ideas as to what I should check next?

Some simple things to check
1. Plug gap and condition
2. Points condition sometimes if its been sitting a long time they get a coating on them and need to be replace or at least cleaned with a point file and then reset gap.
3. Cap and rotor contacts condition
4. Check to see that fuel is not dumping down the carb as the float maybe sticking.
Good luck

also check the firing order and make sure it is correct, as well as make sure the distributor is not 180 out. find top dead center compression stroke for the number one cylinder and then check to see if the rotor is pointing at the proper terminal on the distributor cap.
