'67 Wagon w/240 - is swapping down to a 200 possible/easy?

I have a '67 Ranch Wagon with a dead 240 / C4 combo currently sittin up at the front.

However I have an excellent deal on a low mileage 200 / C4 combo and would love to do a simple swap of the two just to get the car running and enjoyed through the summer, etc.


Although its highly unlikely that anyone has had to or considered doing this, is it POSSIBLE and EASY to do such a reverse swap?

All the wire / mechanical connections I would think would be the same......BUT is it as simple as using a pair the 240 motor mounts (or modding them or a 200 set???) and lengthening the driveshaft......????

But at least I can get the fantastic piece of Detroit history back on the run!!!!

I wouldn't, it would wear the 200 out quickly, and be a dog, not to mention there are no frame mounts ever produced to mount a 200 in a full size ford. I'd look for a good running 6cyl F150 for a good running 300, use your 240 carb and intake, a 300 Ford duraspark distributor ( I don't think the 240 distributor will work in a 300 ), and you'll have an upgrade. rust out F150's around my area go for $100-$1,000 with good running motors, and you can keep the EFI stuff and later convert to EFI if you wanted.

An old carbed 300 out of a light truck would be about as close to a bolt in as any engine swap could be, but the EFI model would work, too, if you swapped over your 240's intake and exhaust.

You could also just swap on the entire head, intake and exhaust from the 240 if that was in good shape.

But Matt is right. Swapping in a 200 would be a lot more work and the results wouldn't be very satisfactory. You'd likely wind up spending as much or more to get the 200 in the car and running as you would to get a 300 in the car and running even if the 200 is nearly free. You'd need custom engine mounts, and all kinds of things wouldn't line up for the 200 that would for the 300.

I would only do it if the motor mounts would even it out nicely with lil to no modding.
