The 69 mustang inline six used a combination short cable/rod setup that was used for one year only. It centered around a bracket that bolted to the to the underside of the rear of the intake log using two threaded holes that were added to the head casting in 69. Unlike the 70+ cable linkage that "pulled" across the top of the valve cover, the 69 linkage pulled from the back of the head and a pivot on the bracket converted the motion to an upward "push" rod to the carburetor (similar to the 65-68 rod motion, but without having a pivot on the carb spacer).
