G,DAY ,I HAVE ACCUMALATED A FEW NEW BITS OVER THE YEARS AND NEED SOME ADVICE ON WHAT BITS TO USE AND WHICH RODS AND PISTONS ETC TO USE , THIS MOTOR WILL BE PUT IN A 1939 INTERNATIONAL PICKUP / HOT ROD WITH A 3 SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX HERES THE LIST OF WHAT I HAVE GOT , ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED, THE CAR IS TO BE BUILT FOR STOPLIGHT TO STOPLIGHT LAUNCHES NOT TOP END SPEED
xf 250 block & head, no dissy but i would rather points if i can
roller rockers 1.73-1
crow cams 12706-12 valve spring retainers +.060
crow 11704 multi groove collets
crow timing chain set cs 6250
crow heavy duty valve springs 7738-12
crow cam 14770
crow dg2a dissy gear

THATS THE LIST OF NEW PARTS I HAVE ALREADY GOT
what rods ( some say 200 )
what pistons etc
i also have a bit of stuff for a log with a 2v head and will list what i have for it as well in a different post as well

cheers pete

hey
your on the right track.
how much lift can those springs take?
are the roller rockers adjustable?
what block you got (number on l/h side below the no5/6 ports)
if you have an 84/86/87da block you should be right to put the ef falcon crank in with an ef rear main seal with out any machining.
you then need 200 rods with 289 arp rod bolts
acl race series pistons.
if rollers adjustable run a soild cam with clevo lifters.
on and run an electronic dizzy from an xd/xe falcon graphed to your cam and carby etc. much better then any points system.

thanks for the reply , i will check what xf blocks i have tomorrow as well as if the roller rockers are adjustable , one question though regards the electronic dissy how do i hook it up and what else do i need , to get it sparking , as i am not real good with electronic dissys and computers , thats why i was going to use points ,
again thanks heaps
cheers pete

hey
nah the xd/e dizzy is just like the points dizzy but electronic all you need is 12v instead of 7/8v to coil and a electronic coil (injected engines are best for good cheap ones).
so no computer's

g,day , so i get a xd/xe dissy and a coil off a xf injected motor , is that right , and what is the advantage of a ef crank and if i use a ef crank what rods do i use ef or xf , also what pistons , cheers pete

if ya do a serch around you'll get a more defined awnser but in short.
ef cranks rev better due to 12 counter weights instead of 7.
same 200 rods same pistons.
and yep for the coil.

g,day from bundy , drift thanks heaps for your help and knowledge , it is much appreciated , i owe you a couple of beers or rums , cheers pete

Ef cranks dont "rev" better. There actually slightly slower to rev up due to the extra weight. But they are alot smoother in the higher revs due to being fully counter weighted. The crossflow doesnt like big revs overly much. Gets very harsh, very quickly. Ef Crank makes the motor rev smoother.

hey iam not picking or anything like that but if it revs out smother then isent that reving out better?.
oh also just woundering whould you be able to take more weight off ef crank over say a xflow?
