I'd like to do a ram air setup. I've seen the one that 'Geezer did. Super sharp, but I'm looking to do something a bit different. The way my engine bay lays out, plus the montecarlo bar and with the repositioning I did of the radiator (offset to the driver's side to allow larger electric fan to clear water pump pulley nose), I will need to use an air collector on one side only. Therefore, I want to run one duct. I think I can build the collector out of the same types of downspout components he used. It'll be on the passenger side, so my ducting will need to go essentially up 90degrees then turn 90degrees to the carb.

For the ducting, I really like the look of some of the chrome/polished hard-duct that the ricers are using vs the ole black flex-hose. I may try to make some fittaments with that stuff.

By 2 biggest issues are with the aircleaner and the connection on the carb itself.

The ricers are using cone shaped filters that are just hung on the end of the tube. Not really ram air. I need something that can be used inline OR right at the core support where I make my collector. Heck, if I could find an airbox with a filter in it that'd fit in my available space next to the radiator, that'd be perfect. I've got lots of height but it'd have to be narrow (like 6-8" or so) to fit between the radiator and battery tray.

Then, getting the "bonnet" piece that would fit on/over the aircleaner is my next issue. With the OZ intake offsetting the aircleaner so far to one side, I don't have much clearance for a big, round housing like Geezer used. I saw the thingy below in another post and contacted the guys. They said they aren't making them anymore.

That would proabably be perfect for what I need in the way of clearance. They also show these:

If I could get one of those style adapters, I think I could clear my Monte bar ok.

Anyway, I was hoping to hear from the audience. What other ram air stye inductions have been done? What about a cheap supercharger/turbo setup (or if someone has a Paxton unit they wish to donate  ...)

Just fishing for ideas. I know there is no shortage of them here!

any pics of your engine bay? it would make it a tad easier to have an idea pop up.

as for the bonnets, i saw that on had offenhauser on it, that might be a start. you could also try scrounging at a junkyard if thats your type of thing.

our 02 e150 has an inline cone filter that is enclosed, but the case is kinda big.

You could always find a carb hat (like in your pics) used in turbo/supercharger applications and then run some piping off that to the front using a small filter in the grill, or, do like alot of the import guys and run the filter into the wheel well and that way, the filter isnt in the engine bay, and it gets plenty of air. Might need to think of a way to keep water out of it tho.

Another route is to get an aircleaner with one snorkle and just use it, then you can keep the filter on the carb and run the hose wherever your imagination takes it. It take a lot of thinkin and alot more tinkerin, but youll get it!!!!!!!

the bonnets off of a tempo/taurus are really cheap..got mine for 2 bucks, i was hoping to use it with my open scoop but it extends past the scoop hole so i didnt use it, but it would work well with a hose and an airbox with a cone filter on the end.
