I have three questions for you guys and gals and here it is:

I have the Holley one barrel carb and I am looking for a better air cleaner than the old oil bath one the carb is 2/5 in. I would like to use a K&N air filter, if that would be possible?

Also where is the best place to put the wire on the 215 inline six, so that the wire dose not burn on the header?? As for the alternator, is it better to go with the one wire or the two wire?

I know this is a lot of questions for all of you, but this helps me out.

PS: If you go to http://www.inliners.org/ and look @ “Gearheads’s ‘53 Chey ½ ton by Bryan Davis. This would like to do with my ’53 Ford f-1.

Talk to soon,
Paul

For the air filter, I just used a generic 1 barrel filter from Kragen. It's not all that secure if you just push it on so I drilled a small hole through the filter housing and the the upper carb body. Secured it with a bolt and nylon lock nut.

For an alternator, I went with a Powermaster's one wire hook up. Some people say one wires suck but I haven't had a single problem with it since I put in almost a year ago. The wire is about 8 inches from the headers and shows no sign of stress from heat.

Depends on whether you want a cool looking air cleaner or just a generic. I decided to keep the 223 and dress it up.
I bought a finned aircleaner from vintage speed on the net. looks good with the finned valve cover, finned oil filter cover (for a spin on filter) ,finned coil cover and finned voltage regulator cover. all can be had from either Vintage Speed or Speedway Motors on the web.
The air cleaner will accept a K&N air filter.
