Aluminum water pumps

Finally thinking about replaceing my water pump since I had the sporadic radiator fluid leak and remembered these posts:

The problem is that I went to the partsamerica site and they don't show the GMB brand water pump (I am assuming they don't carry them anymore).

This may be a stupid question, but is it obvious by looking at them out of the box at the store which is the aluminum and which is the cast iron? How can you tell?

If I am going to replace it, I would rather pick up the aluminum one and polish it up all nice and shiney!

Easy, the cast pump is heavier than the aluminum. When you go to the parts store ask them for a pump 65-66 Mustang than a 79 Fairmont. If the pumps look the same ask them to bring out more boxes until you find the aluminum one. Like I said in the earlier posts, since they are interchangable the manufacturer puts what they want in the box.
