Well ive been building this car for 3 years and it still looks like a dog and my motors taked over two years thanks to a slack engine builder.

Over this time ive learnt heaps from this place and the engine guy and learnt that his work is good, maybe not worth waiting over two years for but we will see.

Thanks for the help so far folks so heres some pickys of hows shes looking.......close now  Cheers Steve

Nice to see individually numbered and measured pistons! Like the "Deep Purple 1972" inlet valves, too.

Hey Steve, nice work! Interesting to see that you went with a port divider too, those pics bring back memories. Also, what kind of valves and spring retainers have you got there? They look different to mine. From what I can see, it looks like some time has been put into the build, and I hope it makes the power you deserve for having to have waited this long!

I can't wait to see it all running and more importantly to drag you with my new motor!

Yeah Addo this guy does everything from scratch and hes been doing speedway inlines for years.
The pistons were ACL flat tops but i want street use so they had 60cc cut out of them and all the valves are oversized

And Bretto its so on. Will be extra nice when they reopen AIR. Stupid legal battles, stupid Bob Jane
The retainers came with the crow springs i think, not sure on the brand of valves but theyre pretty much the biggest we can get in there. Ill have to get correct measurements for everything

Andy's motor is finished so he and another mate both with TC's will join the party...........

Ohh and soory people i didnt realise how big the photos are. I rfesized them to fit a medium screne, Steve

hey
i got 1 of my 2v on as well made a bit of diffrence picked up about 10/20rwkw havent had to dyno yet but runs with the top crossflow and ohc engine now in my class (speedway) and iam still running points lol.
oh found mine has a big soild cam.
looking good but.
where do you get a port divider from or just make one.

Yeah just made one. Braze welded it in. Ended up pretty neat imo. Think it was 11mm plate. Steve

Yeah same here. Its taken bloody years and tears.
Im aiming for a low 14 with 2.92 gears. Problem is i got a 3 speed manual and with these gears ill have to shift to 3rd before the line so ill play around with tyre heights to get more rev out of it at the line.

Only problem is that im in Adelaide and we dont have a drag strip till the legal bull$hit ends and they rebuild AIR. Till ten a stop watch we be my only freind  Cheers Steve

Good news, I heard AIR is opening up for street meets again Friday night! Bob Jane ended up owning the track, but I don't know if he has done anything yet to fix it. Let's at least hope the tree and timing systems are working properly again!

Steve, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with quarter mile results with your car. There are 240hp Cortinas running high to mid 13s with decent diffs (lockers or good LSDs) and on street tyres. 240hp/180kw is the figure I'm going for with this build, which will really push the limits of the modded log head of mine. With a 2V and better cam, your motor should be well and truly capable of that.

Sounds like things will be looking good for a South Australia Cortina drag meet at AIR sometime this year.

Amen to that brother :D
I dont really know what HP figure to expect. Its the first motor ive had built and i never had a dyno outing.
Id be happy with 240HP for sure.
Good to hear bout AIR, i think?
Wouldve been nice to have a new AIR though
Cheers Steve

Yep sorry folks been busy.
Engines together, pacemakers painted, cam dialed in.
Just inlet, carby and fuel pump, plugs that sort of thing to go.
then bolting the clutch up and radiator etc

Should be going in late next week and given a squirt up the road and back. Then a few more little things to do and then ill start cruising

Did AIR have a meet? I havent heard yet.

Cheers Steve

Hey Steve
hows it been going for you?
Hopefully no troubles. Have you put it on a dyno or anything yet?
cheers
Brendan
