Another Carburetor-Question

Howdy Back Helmut and all:

Thanks for the kind words about the Handbook Franken.

Helmut-Check the linkage by having someone depress the throttle pedal inside the car, while you peer down the top into the carb, with the choke open, to verify that the butterfly valve is completely vertical. If you can manually move the linkage on the carb to open it farther, you will need to adjust the linkage to be able to gain full throttle and regain top end performance. You may also want to try a few more degrees of initial advance.

Also you will need to retune the low speed air screw for highest vacuum.

Glad to hear it is an improvement over the 1940.

Keep it coming.

Adios, David

"...So, I won´t be very succesful in Looking for a conversion Kit I guess..."

Is there not an ele after mrkt 1 like I put on my Carter YF? Or the bracket to put in manuel I see for some?
(BTW: none of the on-line vendors have the plunger boot, rod and spring I need to complete the carb rebuild - any 1 know where to access?).

Howdy @ all,

yes Robert, the handbook is really very helpful and I`m very glad to got one... however now I know I´ve to learn much more things I couldn´t imagine before I read it :)

Back to my carb again... I checked the completely vertical WOT when I do the swap - and yes, as David suggests I had to adjust it a little bit. By that, I could see that the accelaration pump works very well

The low speed air screw I tuned carefully to highest rpm and stop there because the vacuum was stable while turn it in or out... just as I did with my Holley before.

So, I´m going to tune the initial advance a little bit and I will report how things going on.

And again I´m very happy that I´m a member of this forum because I got a lot of very helpful input from all of you!
Thanks a lot!
Helmut

Howdy @ all,

and some good news. The upgrade to an 1101 was definetly the right choice. Performance increases very impressive and... sounds funny but it´s true: Mileage increases too, actual at 24 MPG. :thanks:
Special thanks to David & all the others here.
So, for me this is a setting which is all I want for the next time - When I´m feeling boring again maybe I´m looking for a 2bbl upgrade...

@ chad: Did you receive the pictures about the height ?

Greetings from Germany
Helmut
