O.K. Guys. These are my thoughts. please join in

on an efi engine heavily moded with Ausie parts. Would it be worth my while to

1. stock dizzy only to turn the oil pump and act as a triger. Coil on Plugs
2. Petronics III system with their dual spark coil
3. MSD II System
4 DUI system

The BOX will handle fuel, spark, and other parameters.

Thanks in advance

If your choice comes down to choosing between the DUI and the MSD/Duraspark 2 system I would go with the DUI because your only talking the differance of $100-$125.00 (if that) between the two by the time you factor in the cost of the Duraspark distro, MSD box, adapter harness, Blaster 2 coil and new plug wires vs the DUI distro & wires.

Understand what you are saying. But, Would I get any further benefit out of a coil on plug system? BTW, I will not be needing any mechanical advance on the dizzy anyways.

What coil on plugs system?
Factory FoMoCo?

If so, my 2-cents worth...
Of the few "issues" I've had with my '97 F-150 since new, the coils have been one of them.
I have gone through 3 FULL sets in 150-k miles.
They're pricey, and don't appear to be a "long-life" item, in my opinion. Maybe it's different with aftermarket pieces, but you couldn't put a coil-on-plug FoMoCo set-up on my 'chero if you paid me to take it.

That is just my humble opinion though.

another thought about them, i have only seen them used in relatively low-temp areas (in/on vavle cover in OHC engines, etc), never right by the exhaust manifold as would be hte case on your engine. i would expect them to last decently in a low-temp area, but have a much shorter life right next to the manifold as they would be. the ONLY advantage i can think of with them is that when (not if, when) one dies, you lose only one cylinder, as opposed to losing the whole system... but i've never had a standard coil fail so thats not a valid arguement
