Another T-5 swap in progress (completed)

I decided to replace T-10 with T-5 and started the conversion yesterday after getting all the parts. My car was already converted for T-10 and therefore it already had '67-bell and 28-spline yoke. Some modification has been required so far:
- Drilling the holes to bell to adapt V8 adapter plate
- Grinding 1/2" from the fron and right side of the shifter hole
- Shaping the crossmember bolt holes to get it placed

As seen in the picture the yoke free movement is a bit less than 1". I hope its enough. I measured the T-5 length with the adapter and it seemed to be even shorter than T-10.

nice to see some clear pic , btw how is the clutch movemend ? normaly you must ad an plate onder the clutch mounting , because to fill up the thicknis from the adapterplate ? gone use 3 finger ore diafragma style pressure plate ?

1 thing i can already tell you , it is realy great to drive a 5 speed box behind the 6 . i love it . verry smooth shifting , and with the diafragma style plate it is verry light operating the pedal and perfect giving the wright proporsion for angaging the clutch.

as you know i got the T9 from the sierra , perfect gear selection , even i got 2.87 rear end gear .
this baby is realy taking off now , fast shifting , and luckly for me no vibration ore strange noises .

i hope it wil work out for you the same . you wil love it .

keep up posting these nice pic from the progres . nice and clear pic , good job !

ps: i see you got the clutch fork with the orginal spring attach ? they wil normaly when they get older go wabbeling and shattering . i got it ball bearing now , without doing any modification to the clutch fork self !

got a draw for it in auto cad with all the part nr . did wanted to make them and post and sell them onto my website .

Just had the first test drive. What can I say..It's perfect excluding the OD which may be used only in the speed over 65mph, but that is something I knew alredy when buying the transmisson.

I didn't have to shorten the driveshaft which made things easier and I didn't have to do any changes to the clutch because actually the adapter does not change the distance of the fork from the pressure plate in this case where the original 3-finger pressure plate/Z-bar combination is still in use.

That looks great. I have had so many problems I wish I knew what we have done wrong. I had to put a 3/8 spacer on the back of the adapter and fab up a mount as the windsor-fox part didn't work at all. I am going from a 2.77 trans and am keeping the 8 1/2 inch clutch. Drive shaft is out getting shortened. Hop to have it back together this week.

Which T-5 are you installing? There's 2 lengths of input shafts 7.41 and 7.18. The longer one came with 4-cyl engines.
