OK I found the papers on my carb. It's a Weber 32/34 DTF off a Ford Fiesta. The other problem I'm having is it almost or does die when I push in the clutch even after it's warmed up. It can idle. It's a little rough. I have the idle set at about 1200 RPM whitch is a little high. Is it an idle jet issue? I'll check for vacuum leaks again just in case.

Thanks

Hi Rocky,

Sounds very much like an idle jet issue. The fact that you need to set the idle speed so high indicates that you are transitioning to the primary circuit to keep it running. My guess is that the idle jets are small, 50 of less, based on the fact that the carb was on a Fiesta. Try a 65.

Have you rebuilt the carb? Has it always been this way since you pulled it? My guess is that you may have a dirty idle circuit that is partially clogged with dirty. Or you have a dirty fuel filter. I had one of my 1100s only idle above 1500 RPM once. It did it very sudden too. I was making a 20 mile drive back to my house, and by the time I got home, I couldn't keep it running below 1500 RPM.

Ya I rebuilt it and put on a new filter. Don't know yet what the jet size is. I'll check it next.

Thanks

Sounds like a classic idle jet problem. Try a 65 and lean it out from there with the mixture screws. you want to try to acheive the best idle with the throttle blades as closed as possible to avoid main circuit enriching so you have a smooth transition from idle to main circuit.
