just wondering if anybody has used a holley 2300 on a 200. the carb is 350 cfm. i happen to have an extra sitting around and thought i might use it on the stang, when i get home.

Lots of people use them. They are a larger carb than the weber but more performance can be expected. Most people have their log milled. However min is sitting atop of it working great.
Dan-

your going to need to mill the head or use an adapter plate but ive heard lots of good things.

I have been fighting mine.....BUT!!

i bought some cheap ass ebay carb (like $50 rebuilt)
mounted it up at the same time I boosted the motor
fought all kinds of problems but they seem to have gotten better with the addition of a electric pump and return style regulator (still boosted)

Aca en argentina se hace mucho la reforma de poner un Holley 2 bocas para reemplazar al de 1, si quiren puedo pasarle varios links y datos sobre estas reformas.

Saludos desde Buenos Aires.!!!

I'm thinking he said:

Here in Argentina many people convert from 1 bbl carbs to 2 bbl Holley carbs. If you like I can send you several links and information I have on these conversions.

Greetings from Buenos Aires.

(Hey, if you live in South Texas, ya might as well learn the lingo...)

I bought one brand new from Summit, literally took it out of the box, bolted it on, and it started RIGHT AWAY!!
No problems. It also runs a lot smoother than the 1bbl 1940.
The weirdest thing is the loud sucking noise it makes, from all the fluid it sucks in!

for those of you that have done this swap how much of a decrease in gas mileage did you see? I've thought about doing this before as well. And did you upgrade just the carb or was it in conjunction with headers etc.

Iam looking to do this on a stock 200 in a fairmont. In your opinion which is the best carb to use? I am a eng builder and i can't see any big improvement putting a larger carb on that small opening. Help me understand. thanks, jim.

I used an Autolite 2100 from a 68 302, I had trouble getting the tuning and idle speed lean and low enough, but didn't see any difference with mileage, just performance. I have recently switched to a H/W 5200 to try to get better mileage. :)

BTW, I have a .dxf file for cutting a mounting flange for the H/W inside a 6.5" circle, I used it for modifying an Edelbrock Pro-Flow 1002 air filter for hood clearance(dxf is not perfect  but within about .060, needs about 5 min with a file or a minute with a die grinder to clean up), if anyone is wanting a copy of this, send me an e-mail, I will forward to you.

I have a 80's head with the 1.75 intake hole. The first carb I used was a 350 cfm off a 351 mod. Ford motor it was a big change. I also put a Mallory cd box and Ecoil on a few days later. The next day I did a 4500rpm 1st to 2nd shift and just about put it in the ditch, that carb swap made a big differance. Now I'm running a 350 cfm Demon carb, I also swapped my rear end fron a 2.79 gear to a 3.45, which made my mpgs go up even more. Now I'm getting about 20 city and about 22-24 on the hiway.

The biggest problem I've had is my Demon carb sweats very bad on cold wet days, I ported out my adaptor to give it as steep of incline towards the middle as I could so water wouldn't gather and make big drops. I also put the thinnest gaskets I could find in order to make the carb get as hot as possible, and ran my pvc hose to the carb instead of the factory location on the carb adaptor.

I'm not sure how every one else has their carb tuned but I had to go up 2 sizes on the acc.pump squirter and I changed out the main jet from a size 60 to a size 64 on the Demon carb, I would think the Holley carb would be close to the same.

Hope this helps, Daniel
