Attaching the Clifford adapter to the 2bbl carb

Hi,

I now have 2bbl carb adapter from Clifford and the 2bbl 5200 (thanks Okefenokee Comet). The hardware that came with the adapter is as follows:

2 gaskets, 4 nuts, 4 bolts with no head on either side, and 4 black bolts.

My question: Which bolts go where? Which bolts attach the carb to the adapter and which bolts attach the adapter to the log?

Thanks,

Justin

Hey, i just got the adapter as well, i have the 4 bolts with no heads, those just screw into the threads on the adapter. larger threads go in thinner on top to screw the nuts on. As for the other black bolts i didnt recieve those, but i did get 2 stickers from one of them i like the yellow one but the other one sadly ripped in transit. ohh well maybe ill just have to order more from them later.

Dude, I think I can help but I have a few questions for you, first.

What year is the cylinder head? Can you post the casting numbers?

What number is stamped on the adapter (i.e., 1604)?

I have this set up as well. If you can answer those questions, then I can probably help you through this one.

Okay it looks like the entire engine is '68. Great, this is good information to know for future use.

Here is what I did for my adaptation.

First I removed the heat riser located directly under the stock 1BBL carburator (if you have one).

Next, I attached the adapter to the "log" via the stock mounting studs (don't forget to place a gasket between the two). If you don't have studs but bolts, then you will have to use two of the studs that came with your package.

Then, I used two of the nuts to fasten the adapter to the "log" studs. I could not see any other way to attach it to the intake manifold.

Finally, I placed my carburetor on top of the adapter (again, gasket between the two) and used four bolts w/ nuts to complete the installation (you may want to use lock washers when you attach the carburetor).

If you have any problems, send a PM and I can probably take a few photos illustrating one way to install the adapter. I'm sure I have a few of my installations archieved somewhere.

Ya know, I think I messed up on that last post.

RedRaven is correct. Use the studs and thread them into the adapter and use the nuts for mounting the carburetor onto the adapter. But you will still need to pay close attention how you mount the adapter to the "log".

Like I said, you have to use a stud for this, you can't use a common bolt. It will not fit through the adapter. Not enough clearance for the head.

Sorry again, i didn't catch the adapter model number until after I posted my response. :?

Thanks for the help. I will let you know how the installation goes. I hope to do it this weekend if the weather is decent. :D
