Aussie head/carb question

I have a 65 Mustang with the 200, straight 6. I got an Aussie head, Clifford dual headers and the Weber 38DGAS carb. Everything has been going smoothly while putting the motor back together and getting it ready for it's first trial start-up. I however am having problems with the carb linkage. The Aussie head, rotates the carb 90 degrees, making it impossible to use the stock mechanical linkage. To be honest, the linkage just won't clear the intake. I figured I would have to go with a short piece of throttle cable, or go with a new throttle peddle and cable set up. Has anyone done this yet? What about the trans kick down cable, how do I connect that to a throttle cable set up? Any suggestions? I am kind of stuck in the water till I can get past this.
