did the strombergs on the 250 2V, have this auto kickdown on the carbs like yankee cars? if so , how hard too source the set up ?

I think it could have depended on the vehicle - Falcon or Cortina - what was used.

There are two bosses behind the carb pad, that may be tapped to 5/16" UNC for brackets and whatnot, but I've not seen a verified Ford version of this. Most 2Vs I've looked at are factory manual engines. If you did find OEM auto bits for sale, they'd probably be overpriced!

The 250 C4s we had back then, used a cable kickdown so possibly even a little bracket off the carb studs was used. That might be the easiest route. Otherwise it could be that the accelerator cross-shaft was extended slightly to pull a rod or cable at the far end.

As far as I remember the 250-2v only ever had the C4 auto, not the BW35 one the other sixes, so the kickdown linkage is on the passenger side via a short stack cable.

thanks for the info. i can always use the holley 2bbl carbey with the kickdown.

Aussie7 has it right, the 2V Falcons had the kickdown with the short cable from the throttle rod like a 302 car.

Cortinas never had 250-2vs! Difficult to fit into tc td.

TC Cortina's deffinitely came with the 2V 250 , I know because I had one , it was a 1972 TC with 250 2V and Top loader gearbox

Sorry gaz tc cortys never had 250-2v from the factory , I fitted one as well, but Ive seen the manuals and spares book, they were never built.
The reason I suspect is the closeness on the drivers side, Ive never seen one fitted with the factor water elbow on the intake, and even with that removed its still tight.

Wow a bit of controversy on the site!

As a kid I can remeber the TC/TD's had a bonnet bulge on the 250's and a different 250 ci badge on the flank from the Falcons.
I certainly had never heard of a 2v in a Cortina.
