Is there any benefit to running the heater water through the carburetor spacer? It doesn't make sense to me; why heat the air/fuel mixture? Any problem with bypassing it?

I believe that helped during winter operation? In warm weather operation the water temp through the carb spacer might be lower than the under hood temps and the heat created by the exhaust manifold directly under the carb?

carb spacer heat was deleted in later sixes. All older cars had the 'Heat Riser" on the intakes as mentioned for improved low engine temps' and 'carb icing' scenarios...

Since my car is fair weather use only, I haven't had the hose hooked up for years. There was no hose in '68 to maybe early '69 for the small log spacers, and none for the large log spacers either. Here's a pic of the early spacers with and without a hose connection, and a large log spacer that never had them.
