autolite 1101 2 types?

I'm not entirely sure, but my guess would be the 2 diaphragm is for an Auto tranny, and the 2 for a manual tranny-
Nick

the dual is for automatics , the second diaphram works as the dashpot ( device that allows a slower return to idle ) to keep from stalling

ok, well the 1 diaphram carb on my engine is starting to plug up since i wasnt able to clean it properly when i rebuilt it, the other 1101 is in peices but is clean, im going to get it working and see what happens

dash pot wuz 4 automatics, but incorrectly placed on some standards (till ford had a service bullitin to remove it @ first servicing). Looks like 2 tiny pie plates placed face to face (ie lips mated, smaller ends facing out). Is external of the carb, has a lill post/rod w/spring around it.

Not clear on the "2 diaphrams" detail as explained...

The Second Diaphragm IS THE DASHPOT they are not all external , got it now Chad , oh and was is spelled WAS not wuz , and where did you come up with the service bullitin , ( your words not mine ) sheesh

they are not all external
Oh, OK, thanks, wasn't aware of that, still learnin.

where did you come up with the service bullitin , ( your words not mine ) sheesh :chill:
I have a lill ephemera (antique papers) from ford.

Thanks

BTW: think the nomenclature "pull off", to name this mechanic's title for the apparatus, came from this ford mistake in putting them on every vehicle (auto or not) for awhile?
:hmmm:

well whoever messed with the carb before me had kung foo grip because the diaphram mounting plates are bent from being over torqued and every time i hit the gas, a little shoots out where the bend is, no biggie

I ran the automatic version of the 1100 on my standard just fine. In fact, one of the mustangs I trust actually recommended it and he puts them on all 200's he rebuilds.
