What size jets are you all using on autolite 2100 2bbl carbs? and where can you get jets for these carbs?

Thanks

Howdy 64Falcon:

I always start with what was in the stock carb and tune from there. There are so many variables. For example I live at about 5,000 ft elevation so I almost always have to find a smaller jet for my applications. Another factor is the size and original application for the Autolite 2100 you are using. The 1.14 and the 1.08 carbs are very similar in CFM flow, but were typically used in different applications from the size of FoMoCO vehicle to the year, mileage and emissions concerns. All Autolites were leaned in various ways after the 1st oil embargo of the seventies.

Typically, I never change more than 4 numbers up or down. And FYI, the main jet will have it's most significant influency on WOT. It will have an influence on steady state cruising, and none at all on idle quality and transitions.

So, the questions are; what size Autolite 2100 are you using and in what application? What is the stock jetting? Do you know wnat the 2100 came from? Is the tag still on it? What is it acting like? What do your spark plugs look like? Is the 2100 direct mounted or with an adapter? Any other modifications to the engine?

Autolite jets are scarce. I have gleaned jets from junk carbs for years. They clean up easily and nicely sitting in a cup of vinegar overnite. I hear that Pony Carb is a source for Autolite jets, but I have not tried them yet.

well, the carb has the code c2af on the side that means a '62 carb I am guessing, it is a 1.14 (IIRC) It was a rebuild when I got it so I don't know much about where it came from.

It is mounted on an adapter, the engine is currently stock but for the DSII dizzy, I have a new head (ported, valve job) and pacemakers waiting to go on when I have the time to spare

It is acting ok, need to check the plugs and the size jets that are in it now. I am looking for advice as to what a likely good sizing would be. I know that what works for some may not be the right size for this engine as they are all different, but a likely place to start would be good as the jets are hard to get ahold of.

Thanks

Howdy back:

The venturi size is cast onto the side of the fuel bowl inside a small, dime sized circle. It is just behind the accelerator pump rod.

The "C2AF" is an indication that this carb came from a 1962 full size Ford Car with either a 292 "Y" block or a 289 V8. 1.14 were the most common size in this application.

The next thing to know is what are the conditions of the spark plugs? And then what size jets are in it now?

Plug reading is the best indication of idle and cruise mixture. WOT is the best indication of Main jets. Other tuning pieces are the idle speed, initial advance setting, low speed air screws, accelerator pump settings, choke, float level, and power valve. Unless I had a clear indication, main jets are one of the last things I'd change.

Some of the 2100 carbs have Holley main jets; the 1.02 2100 I took off a 61-64 292 (in an F100) has Holley mains.
