Autolites were never used as original equipment on a '72 with a 200. From 1970 on, until the Holley #1946, the only carb used on 170s and 200s was the Carter YF. So it is likely that the Autolite on the '72 Maverick is not the original carb. And, your '78 distributor will be a DuraSpark II that requires a ported vacuum signal from a carb designed with a Ported vacuum port, like an OEM '72 Carter YF. What carb is on the '78 200? Most likely a Holley #1946???
Why did you want to use the Autolite on the later engine?
