just wondering if it would be possible or if anyone already has installed a BA shifter handle in an AU? Would it fit or would you need to modify it?

Can't see why it wouldn't work, We all know how interchangeable Ford parts tend to be. Biggest problem you'd face if you get it install would be wanting to shift it over to the left for the triptronic feel.
Forget it, the shifter may fit, but the BA is cable shift to LHS of tranny and the "select shift" is done electronicly not manually, so you would need the PCN to operate it, and thats out of the question with the SOHC six.
The BA PCM has Variable cams, drive by wire and controls all sorts of other functions.
