Balancer repair

I have my engine out doing some repairs, and trying to stop the "droolies", my harmonic balancer has a pretty bad groove where the seal seats and I was wondering if anyone has used the repair sleeves I have seen. Autozone has one by Pioneer which says "an installation tool " is used and Felpro has one but doesn't mention an "installation tool". I would assume that they are a "press" fit with the supplied sealer, anyone had any experience with these? Oh yeah, naturally this is a 200 six! Thanks in advance!

Most of the repair kits are just a stamped sheetmetal sleeve that slides over the end of the balancer.

Mike at Classic Inline's does sell new and reconditioned balancer's.

Yeah, but how well do they work, I'm very tempted to try one since I can't really afford $120 for a rebuild at the moment.

I've used these sleeves many times and they work perfectly. They come with a small bit of sealer and they just tap on with a block of wood and some light tapping.

I'll second Mustang6, I recently used on of these on my Falcon (winter 07/08) and it is still dry. I used the Felpro brand sleeve, cost was about $9. The sleeve is about 3/4 inch wide and I remeber wishing that it was a bit wider (at the time I can not remember why).
