Basic boost?

hey!
I'm thinking bout buying a -68 with a std I-6 and manual 3 shift. Im not desperate for speed, but whats the most basic way to upgrade the machine (a new carb maybe?) I dont wanna spend weeks in the garage, just boost the machine a bit... any suggestions?

Almost universally agreed, first mod is a Duraspark installation.

After that, my personal suggestion is swapping the cam/lifters/timing set combined with a light milling of the head surface to suit the new cam. This will improve the car at first, and if you later upgrade the carburettor, it will further gain performance.

Headers alone will not do much for power or performance but after the mods described above, there will be a mild additional boost.
