Bolt Broken when trying to remove

i was removing my exhaust manifold and one of the bolts snapped and stayed in the block, now the exhaust did come off once all bolts were removed but i was wondering how would i take out the bolt that is stuck in place? would i drill it out or something? its the top bolt on the left side of the exhaust manifold.

Drilling it out is probably the best way, don't use easy-outs, they'll just break. If you can find them, try a set of left-handed drill bits. Regardless (hate to tell you this), your best bet it to take the head off.

I had this exact same problem... I snapped it in half, and I keep it in my ash tray as a memory... as well as other things... I used a drill (with the head off) and my dad has some kind of kit that you hammered the piece in and used pliars to turn it... we got it out and its great...

You are talking about the top bolt at the very front and very back, right??

I just drilled the center, and tapped to 5/16" (Instead of stock 3/8") and it works fine.

Don't use easy-outs, if they break (and they do a lot) you're screwed. The best way to remove a busted bolt is to weld a washer on the the stub end and remove with a pair of plier. The weld heat will expand the broken bolt in the hole and bust loose and corrosion holding it in place, it should come out easily.

Ditto on the easy outs, I broke one and had to use a cutting torch to melt it out.

The problem with the "weld something on the stub trick" is that they usually break flush.
