Sorry, I think I lost a few brain cells today. But I was looking at my fan and for some reason it did not look right.

Can you look at the picture below and tell me if it is on correctly???

You will need to make sure that the fan blades are not close to any lines or hoses. If you have all the clearances then it would seem to me to be OK. I cant tell from that pic but it looks like you dont have a fan spacer.

Depending on how close the fan is to the radiator, you may need to add a spacer. The fan is more effective at pulling air through the radiator if it is closer but you dont want it close enough that if the engine mount flexes that it eats the radiator.

My '80 Mustang's fan was about 1" from the radiator.

BTW your motor looks good. You should post more pics when you can.

For some reason I thought it was on backwards. :?

I do have a 1/2 fan spacer on there and have about 1/2 clearance from the radiator.

Thanks for the compliment on the engine. I will take more pics once I get my radiator and shroud installed again.

Looks fine to me!! (not on backwards). To double check, Fire it up and make sure it is blowing air over the engine and not trying to push it back out the front. Watch the fingers though!!

I like that fancy alternator brkt......Kinda looks like mine

Doug, putting the fan on backwards won't make the fan blow the other way, just blow less efficiently. The pitch would still be in the same direction, but the curve of the blade would be facing forward making it a poorer propeller. You'd have to run it in the opposite direction to get the air to go the other way no matter how you had it on.

Hmmmm......I think its a trick question then!!!

If you put the fan on back-to-front, the engine will only cool properly when you're reversing.
