Bronco Accelerator Cable

CI head, intake, Holley 4v. What are you using for accelerator cable? I'm guessing Lokar universal 36". Open to suggestions.

I was able to use polar 24" in my mustang. Needed to switch to v8 pedal. I followed guidance of Cobrasix (Slade).

let me know what you find out. i think the setup that bcbroncos sells is supposed to work but i haven't ordered it yet.

Interesting. That would probably work, but my 66 already uses a cable setup stock. It's just going to be too short for that 4v. I was thinking the Lokar would be easier to adapt, but I could be wrong. Hate it when I can't have parts in my hand to see how they fit.

:thanks: Let me see what I can do. My parts guy is real good about ordering stuff for me and taking it back if I decide I can't use it. I've spent enough money with them I get the jobber prices and they opened me an account. Nice to have parts and machine shop two miles away. But they still keep me broke.

Ok mavereq, got it installed. Used the stock accelerator pedal which is a cable style. Lokar TC-1000U36 cable, Lokar SRK-4000 bracket with springs at carb, Lokar S-1034 cable end. Mine is mounted with fuel bowls facing front and back, so if you mount sideways you could get by with a 24" cable. Cut the clevis style end off and replaced with the S-1034 ball and stud fitting so its the same on both ends. I can send you pic's if you give me your e-mail address.

i'm about to put my order in for these parts and had one more question. if you already had a cable on yours, why not just put the lokar end on your stock cable?

The stock cable is way too short. The fuel reg I put on due to a recommendation from someone on here to run 4.5lbs pressure on the Holley 390cfm. This way I can always up the pressure if needed.
Edit: Plus a member on CB sold it to me for $15, couldn't turn that down.

dang.... i'm gonna hold off on ordering the cable until i decide which way i'm going to mount the carb. i'm definitely going to run it with the floats front and back but i wanted to mount it 180* from the way you have it in your pics. i think if i run it that way i might be able to run a 24" cable.

is your regulator a return type? i see some returnless regulators on summit for relatively cheap that are good for 4.5-9 psi.

To mount it that way you will have to cut the bottom off the throttle linkage, same as mounting it sideway's. You could space the carb, but that would mean scooping the hood. That pretty matching air cleaner I bought is not going to work either. Also with the reverse pull it'll put some pretty sharp bends in the throttle cable. I think a Mustang pedal setup that comes out the firewall on the pass. side might work for you, but I've never looked at one. The reg is non-return, it's a big end reg which I didn't need, but price was right. The reg you're looking at will be fine. Might not even need it, just is easier to do everything while I still have the front clip off. Too darn old to crawl around in there and change stuff later.

i'm looking through your pictures again and see what you mean about the linkage. that really sucks. i was hoping to mount it the other way but i don't really want to cut that up.

Header is due in Wed. Building this from ground up and still have to install front clip and radiator. Hopefully I can trailer it some where and see how it does before I finish rest of the body and paint. Got all the wiring done I need to do that.

i'm working on doing all the modifications before i tear it all down for a frame up so i won't have to modify much after it's been painted. we'll see how that works.

is that lokar cable 36" from end to end or is it the housing that is 36"?

The 36" length is the cable housing. I thought that would be too long but you don't want it any shorter if you mount it the way I did.
