Exhaust manifold Question:
My exhaust manifold is stamped C3. Can this be used on a 66 200 engine?

Do the exhaust manifold port sizes change from year to year between say 62-66?

I would respectfully elaborate on Wallaka response and suggest that you check out your 'C3 exhaust manifold. If it is a 2" outlet and tapered and seated for a donut style exhaust seal it will work fine with a 66 200. If it is the earlier flat style gasket with an opening of less than 2" it will still work with a '66 200 but will require the earlier flat gasket and head pipe for a seal. The later "Firewall" style of connection, with an asbestos donut, seal better and last longer.

FYI- a C8 exhaust gasket has more material in it with gusseting to be more crack resistant and seal better. They also have slightly more internal volume.

thanks guys. This is probably a 2" opening style.
Probably would have needed the older style to match my pipe though... The Pipe flange it flat, which explains why there was a spacer piece which was tapered on one side (donut side) and flat on the other (pipe side)

My Exhaust header has the beveled recess and seems wider than the exhaust pipe in there now (I bought the car not running).
I will take some measurements. Seems like the same donut from my fel pro 302 gasket set fits the manifold hole, but not the pipe. the spacer is a gonner. (bent). I was hoping to just fit the pipe to the manifold and drive it to see what needs replacing, ...what works, ...what doesn't....

Thanks again. This really helps!!

I took the ranchero to a local muffler shop. I think they used my old flange (tapered) that was on my set up, in between the mani and the pipe.

They welded a new pipe to the flange and mounted it directly to the manifold with a flat gasket. This is a 63 manifold with a tapered exhaust for a donut.
Do they make gaskets for that or did this guy probably mount a smaller gasket to the larger exhaust? Before i disturb the set-up I wanted to get a little advice on what you can use on a tapered exhaust and possible tapered pipe end.

As i said I think he used my old flange, bent it back straight and welded the pipe to that, but I'm not sure.

On another note, the exhaust seems awfully close to the trans lines and I'm worried about heat. How far away from those lines is suggested? I ran all solid lines pretty tight to the trans.

thanks!
