What kind of fluid should a C5 transmission take? It is out of an 83' fairmont.

Just found something that says that by 1983 everything Ford was switched over to the Dexron/Mercon blend.
To my knowledge any thing built after 1980 including 1980 used dextron III. I just had my 67 c-4 done & the new bands & clutches require also dextron-mercon III.
Check with your transmission rebuilder rather than just assume, on the proper fluid. :idea: william
