Thanks for looking--I'll be putting an Aussie head on my '76 250 from a Granada to replace the integral intake one-barrel head. Since the lower end was rebuilt 30,000 miles ago, I might try just swapping the heads and going with a Stromberg two-barrel or adapter and Holley 350. With the Holley, I'll be tempted to do a mild street cam swap with more extensive engine work.

How will the US factory cam perform with the Aussie head? Carb choice?

What were the specs of the Aussie 250 cams?

A bit about the car and our family philosophy: Purchased used in 1967, we firmly believe in doing and spending as little as possible to improve performance and keep it running. As such, it's mostly a Granada.

'81 Fairmont driveline
'68 Cougar rear end
'77 Granada disc brakes

I can offer a few comments only.

My measured lifts on a 250 cam were: 221 intake, 229 exhaust (thou, on the cam lobes).

2V motors had the same cam as regular headed engines. I have not checked to be sure, but believe the distributor was also identical.

Your stock cam should run well enough, but I expect it will be thirsty and somewhat average in performance. You'll only notice the difference between heads (2V and stock) past about 40MPH.

Carb choices - if you don't have any way of measuring what air/fuel ratio is happening, make sure to not overcarb. A lean 2V is pretty unusual, as many are ambitiously overfed.

get the adapter and use the holley 350. if you have the time and patients i would also do the cam. i used the clay smith 264/274-110 cam from classic inlines. it sounds good and performs well.

good luck.
