Cam Spacer and Double Roller Timing Setup

I noticed on the stock cam there is a spacer behind the dowel pin where the timing gear mounts. Its approx 0.150 thick. I swapped that cam out for a Clay Smith cam and am using the double roller timing setup. It seems that the new gear in this kit is about 0.600 thick as opposed to the old stock 0.500. Question is: Do it need to install the spacer when using the new gear setup, or does the extra thickness in the gear negate its need? I hope I described this well enough. Please let me know if you need any more details!

Thank you kindly sir. One more question: is the cam gear bolt the same thread as the stock one, or different? Are my threads messed up, or is it a different pitch?

Nevermind, it's the same. Just the bolt from the original cam must have had a poorly cut thread that the bolt formed to. Got a new one, same thread, and it went in fine.

You're welcome. I'm pretty sure the idea with the bolt is Ford made them than way. Kind of an interference fit like the rocker arm adjusters are. Wouldn't hurt to use a mild Locktight on it. I'm sure a new bolt is a good idea.
