Cams

Neither, as jackfish said they are old profiles.

If you want to stay in the 260 degrees area use a comp xtreme energy series. They have a higher lift & a faster rate of lift. XE256 is the grind #

You will have to use a decent valve spring with probably at least 115# seat pressure & in the 275-280# open pressure. Do not use the stock ford small block spring. First they are too weak for a stout camshaft & they have no damper inside the spring.

The 1.6 roller rocker arm assembly would also be a big help. More lift & less friction. Bill

the clay smith cams are better profiles but if you go with the comp get the 260h

c-4 auto is what my transmission is... So neither of thoses... what one from classicinlines?? I want more power and tourque without changing the tourque converter and daily driver car.

81mustang, before we go further, what is your compression ratio & what kind of carburetion are you running???

Yes the classic inlines 264-274-112L/C is an excellent cam if you have at least 9-1 compression & definateley you need 1.6 rockers to reap its full potential.
Its lobe is less aggressive only needing 80# of valve seat spring pressure.

I'm a cylinder pressure guy, so if you have lower than 9-1 you had better stay with a smaller cam.

Lay your cards on the table & go from there. Bill
