camshaft tool?

Looking for recommendations on a good camshaft removal /installation tool, one that works good but doesn’t break the bank.

Thanks!

Long bolt or length of all thread is low buck, if you can weld you could add a nice handle on end

Ok yeah those are pricey you might check and see if you can rent one. Sorry don't know of a budget way unless you have access to a lathe to turn some bushings.

Opps... Long night last night. Camshaft "Bearing" Tool. Thanks!

if you are planning to reuse the cam bearings, then your only choice is to either buy or rent the required tool, or take the block to a machine shop and have them remove the bearings for reuse. if you are going to install new bearings, then careful use of a hammer and screwdriver is all that is required.

Not reusing the bearings, I tried to tap out them out with a big flat head and stopped when they got to stubborn. I'll see if I can rent to tool somewhere or come up with an alternative.

most came bearings have a split in one side to make it easier to get them out of the bores. it is a bit hard to see, but if you get on that split you might get the bearings out easier.

the big box store here "rents" U 1. They have a buncha tools every one barrows. U just buy it and bring it back so they return your money (even if the thing's a lill damaged!).

Went to the big box stores, neither one (Autozone and O'Reilly's) carried it as a rental. Found a second hand one on CL this morning and was able to tap them out. The block is ready for the machine shop, it only had one broken stud which I was able to drill out. I did hit the threads slightly but I think its ok. I'll mock up the water pump and torque to spec, if it holds I'm good, if not, the machine shop will have to fix it (LOL).

I've got the head stripped down but its got two broken bolts, both are at the exhaust manifold. Should be loads of fun.
