Can I add duraspark???

I have a 66 bronco with a 170 and the loadomatic system

I bought the falcon six book and I'm finding it hazy on answering this.

Says 60-64 inline sixes have a smaller diameter distributer shaft

Also says that 200-250 distributers are interchangable

So where does a 66 170 fit into a swap??

I'd like to swap out the carb and distributer with something more modern

The 1965 revision of the 170 block is SUPPOSED to have the later oil pump system, but Ford's parts-bin philosophy means that nothing is ever sure.

First thing to do is remove the distributor and inspect the oil pump drive. If it is 1/4", then you will have to replace the oil pump with a Melling M-65B (or equivalent) and the shaft with a 6" long 3/16" diameter shaft. If it is a 3/16" shaft already, you are good.

The body of the DuraSpark can be sanded down to fit the hole in the block if needed. Though, if you have the later oil pump and shaft, it should drop in.
