Car shuts off

I have a 170 with a dsII. The car turns on easily and while on park you can rev the engine all the way with no problem and it sounds perfect. Once you put the car in drive and hit the gas it shut off. What can be the probelm? Thanks

I think we need more info. What type of carb, is the dizzy new, have you changed anything right before this occurred? First thing that come to mind is timing.

Where is your vacuum advance hooked?

Based on the limited information, I would say something isn't set right with your idle speed. Either vacuum is too low, speed is too low, or timing is way off.

I had the exact same problem with my Ranch when I first got everything back together...it turns out the factory stall speed is set at 800rpm, so your idle needs to be at no more then 850rpm at idle...once in gear, adjust it as close to 800rpm you can...it was very frustrating as it took several weeks for me to figure this one out...double check your timing too.
