THE ROD ATTACHES TO THE ACCERATOR PUMP LEVER ON THE VALVE COVER SIDE OF THE CARB. IT IS USED FOR BOWL VENTING.
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CARURETOR IS TO SET THE FLOAT LEVEL TO 1 1/16 INSTEAD OF 1 3/32. WHEN I MADE THIS CHANGE THE ENGINE STOPPED STALLING WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY OR OVER A SHARP INCLINE. I CALLED PONY CARBURTORS ON THIS CONDITION & RECEIVED NO HELP AT ALL. FROM PAST EXPERIENCE THE STALL WAS A LEAN CONDITION, SO RAISING THE FLOAT LEVEL FIXED THE PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS. WSA111
