I have got a used AFB and took it apart to clean it. I discovered that the venturi ( the nozzle that stickes out in the airsteam) I hope I Idenfied it right.
has a ridge around the middle of the outside of it. i have very carefully removed it and polished it with a emory board.
Do you guys think I have to rejet the carb because of this? Or have I just improved this carb? I think the air signal might be a little stronger than before.

Howdy Back Jim:

You will likely not need to rejet as a result of removing casting flashing. It is a good idea to check your spark plugs regularly though to note any consistent changes that may require retuning. You have probably increased max flow capibilities by no more then 5 - 10 cfm.

Be aware though that plug color can change with climate, gas brand, choke requirements, and driving condition changes, to name a few. No matter, the more often you look the better you will be able to understand and respond to what your engines needs are.

Adios, David
