Carb setup Help

Just got my adapter for my holley 2300 350. Went to bolt it on and ran into a few issues.

Firstly, the linkage runs towards the firewall, but moves in the opposite direction. There are several holes on the armature, do I just move it to the bottom hole so it will pull the arm instead of push?

Secondly, the fuel filter comes out of dead center of the fuel bowl. On my old single barrel it ran to the front of the engine from the pump and then into the filter. Should I just cut the fuel line and run it right up the side of the motor to the fuel bowl?

And lastly, it says its able to adapt to the Ford kickdown linkage for the auto trans. I have the lever style on mine but is nowhere near the kickdown linkage on the carb. What to do?

Thanks for any help.

Workin on an 81 Fox with 200. Headers, 2 barrel swap, auto trans

I cannot help with the kickdown, mines a manual tranny.

I had to go to a cable throttle for it to work. They sell them at any auto parts house and are @ $20, Spectre brand I believe. They come w/ multiple adapters for any application.

Had to re-run my filter, too. Your explanation that you have sounds fine.

Keep the kickdown on the linkage. Shorten the linkage and hook the carb up with a cable throttle hooked separately. Lokar has a kickdown linkage with cable throttle. I saw it on here a couple weeks ago.

I have a cable throttle already but have nowhere to mount the bracket for it now that i have the 2 barrel. any suggestions?

I have seen several people get the throttle cable bracket from a Maverick or faimont which bolts to the block by the coil and to the valve cover by the carb - junkyard for a few $

Mine mounts on the side of the block also but it went to the carb. Will it be strong enough to support it from just the side of the block?

Sounds like we have the same problem.
I put a Weber 38 on a Clifford adapter on my 80 automatic Mustang.
The carb is mounted sideways so the linkage is on the exhaust manifold side.
Same problem as you have regarding the tranny kickdown.
I just got a carb linkage kit from Clifford.
It consists of long threaded rod about 10 inches long with 2 screw-on end pieces that are sort of like ball joints, one for each end, so they move in any direction, and a plate with a bunch of holes in it. I think the plate goes on the carb linkage, then hooks onto the ball joint thingy on the end of the rod.
Hope my highly technical terms make sense. javascript:emoticon('')

I am going to hook one end of the rod to the carb and see if I can hook the other end to the cable. Might be able to modify the stock cable bracket if needed. I probably won't get around to it for a while but will keep you posted. Please do the same if you figure something else out, sounds like we have pretty much the same car, same issues, different carbs.
Can't wait to see what happens when I try to put on the header javascript:emoticon('')

Clifford adapter.
Now that you mention it, I may try turning it around to have the linkage on the coil/driver side, that may give me enough cable to reach the linkage without any 'add ons" to the cable, except something to attache it with.
Either way it will be sideways, so as long as it fits, it shouldn't affect performance.
Weekend project!!!
Thanks.

I have the trans-dapt adapter from summit. The linkage is on the firewall side. The float is towards the valve cover with the filter sticking out over the valve cover. I rebent the metal fuel line to the filter, the cable reaches the linkage< not i just gotta take care of a fuel leak at the bottom of the carb right by the linkage.

I turned the carb around 180 degrees, but the linkage hit the valve cover so I had to switch it back with the linkage over the intake manifold. I used the plate from Clifford, which allows me to use a cable linkage, and it moves in the right direction. However the stock cable is too short. So, next step is to find a longer cable. Lots of parts stores up here in BC Canada so hopefully I will find one. If not I will try Summit or Jegs.
I will check out the trans adapter too, might work.
Thanks for keeping me posted.
Hope we aren't boring the non Fox body owners too much.

Bought a universal cable linkage and managed to hook it to the carb. I made a bracket to hold the cable, but need a stronger piece of metal as it bends when at full open throttle.
Clifford is sending me a bracket so I will see how that works, should be here next week.
I will then get a throttle return spring and let you know how it turns out
