Carter E Choke too tall for hood

I have a 74 Bronco with a 78 inline 200 and when I close the Bronco hood, pressure is put on the Electronic choke and the Bronco starts sputtering and dies. The carb is secure on the motor. Is this some weird grounding issue? Anyway, I can't close the hood without pressure being applied to the Electronic choke. At the highest point, the choke is about 6.5 inches higher than where the carb mounts to the motor. Anyone know of another carb that will be shorter and allow me to close the hood? I have detailed pictures on ClassicBroncos but don't know if I am allowed to link them here.

That's worse than just a "sputtering engine"...
Is the air cleaner on?
Is it a YF carb?
Would U consider a scoop?
What towers and mounts does the motor sit on?
Same prob (w/a car 170) here in '83 when I got my bronk...
Notoriously low hoods on these rigs.
Keep talkin. The CB forum/site dont know the I6 like the folks here!

With the air cleaner on, It won't run if I shut the hood. With the air cleaner completely off it runs fine in 1st gear. I got it up to about 25mph in 2nd and didn't try any faster. I'm not sure if it is a YF or not. It's a Carter carb that was manufactured for Motorcraft.

I am considering a scoop. Would I be able to find one even though the carb/air cleaner is off center?

I am also considering a 2" body lift to resolve the issue

I'm not sure what towers and mounts but I just put pictures of them on classicbroncos.com

So, you had a car engine in your Bronco and you had issues too?

Yes,
might not need that much BL, would wrk w/a SL instead if u'd like that better (like everything auto - what's the rig's app,?),
I think that's the original bronk 6 cyl mounts I C in pic "3 of 5".
- - - (viewed),
Yes, it has 2 dip sticks - 1 on right, 1 on left of engine. Pan is from bronk (right stick); left, on motor is from a "falcon" (bronk is just a 4WD one :? - heck a 'stang is just a REALLY nice falcon).

Let us know how the battle fairs as U go along...
