I have a carb here that is a carter yf with a 1.50 carb bore. I thought these things were only 1.75 bore.

numbers stamped on this thing are yf6305s and 6-2226

Any info on this thing would be great, like how many cfm's etc...want to know if I should use it or not. It appears to be nos never used....

Howdy Spyke:

Your numbers are likely a manufacture's code reference. If this is what you say, it is most likely a carb designed for a '67 Calif emission 170, or a 170 engine from '68 and later.

It is rated at 150 cfm, as opposed to 187 cfm for the larger 200 YFs. If your interest is economy, this is a good choice. If you want performance, look for the larger cfm 200 type and later YF. They changed to the larger 1.75 throttle bore, on all engines, after '69. They will look the same on the outside. It is the diameter of the venturi that makes the difference in CFM.

Adios, David
