cassette player codes.

when i got my xf i had a ford cassette player in it but it wasnt hooked up so i hooked it up, but it has a security code and i dont know what it is so i rang the last owner and he had lost the number. So i was wondering how do you find out what the number is or is it a lost cause and i should buy one without this damm code.

check with your local Ford dealer. If the deck was bought as a spare part over the counter, it may have been linked to your XF when sold.
If not, you will have to take the radio serial number and VIN number to your dealer and get them to link the radio and car together on the Ford system, this will then give you the PIN.
The big problem will be finding somebody at the dealer who understands the situation and is willing to help. I used to work in spare parts at the local dealer and had to do the same thing a few times, but I cant help now as I dont work there anymore.
