Hello all, I was wondering when I do my swap do I need new brackets? If so where can I get some? I do not have a/c or plan on running it for a while, I just need info on the basic swap. I have a 65 amp alt just waiting to be put it. Thanks alot to Lagrasta so far, and hopefully will hear from others that have done the same. Jake

Sigh... Almost done with changeovers, so I can crusie it for the summer.

I used a bracket off a 200 on my 170 when I swapped it. your big problem will be the 144 front cover doesn't have a bolt boss for a alt bracket on it. or could either switch covers and have it be a direct bolt on or you could do like me and I simpley welded a tab on the bracket so it would use the other rearward hole from the gen mount (both brakcets use the front most hole in the block) other than that it all bolts on pretty easily.

You can get a mount that is designed to use the gen holes - Try falconparts.com . This way you will not have to change the timing chain cover or fab your own.

Here's the link for the brackets:

the voltage regulator (for the gen to alt conversion):

and the alt bolt:

Make sure you read the instructions:

http://www.falconparts.com/One Wire Alternator.htm

It's any easy conversion. I've had no problems. The directions even walk you through hooking up your "GEN" warning light!

Use the alternator that has the regulator built in. Also, use a three wire so your GEN light still functions as it always did.
