Before I build my hotrod ford six I want to rebuild one with all priginal stock parts just for practice so I have room to mess up on a cheap motor, and hear that they are forgiving.

I have not rebuilt an engine before so I want to find one with mostly good parts that needs to be torn apart and and rebuilt this is for my auto shop class.

I want to get it running get to know the motor and tune it, tweak it, and sell it.

How much should this cost me?

any suggestions?

You've asked an almost impossible to answer question.
A lot of the uncertainity is due to needing to know so very much about every component of your individual engine.
If all it takes is a disassembly and reassembly, then the cost of a gasket set and other assembly items such as permatex etc etc.
Doubt it will be that cheap.
If you need new pistons-different and more cost.
Rings? More cost
Bearings? More cost.
Replace rod bolts? More cost.
Crank need turning? More cost if so.
New camshaft? New rings? New valves or just a 'valve job' different costs.
Until you disassemble the engine and assess the wear or condition of everything, you won't really know what is required.
Sorry for a very incomplete answer.
