I have seen it mentioned here before but can't seem to come up with anything on a search.
What is involved with this Chevy rocker conversion?
Is it stock rockers or 1.6 ratio?
Roller rockers too?

Thanks

Anyone running a weber carb on their six?

Frank, you can install plain non-roller chevy six cylinder rockers (they are 1-1.75 ratio vs stock ford six which are 1-1.6 ratio)
 BUT  you need to have 3/8 rocker studs in your engine head. tim

Very interesting, thanks for the reply Tim.
So, I suspect that the ford 300 rocker studs are pressed in? As are the Chevy 3/8" studs? What size hole do I need to drill for the 3/8" studs. I won't be doing this myself, just like to have all the info. My head has one rocker stud that likes to creep out causing the valve train to tap. So I planned on removing the head and having it completly re-done.

Why can't we use roller rockers? Or don't they exist for the chevy inline?

for a 300 ford six i used big block chevy rockers,i have erson roller.stud size is 7/16 .they make them in a 1.6 ratio ,stock b.b. chevy is 1.72 will also work and give you more valve lift.

Im running the smaller weber from langdons stovebolt
stock 300 with over 100,000 on the clock
this size is good only for the stock engine
I get much better throttle response than with the stock
1bbl.

what benefit could I get from my 300 with a dp 4bbl intake 390 Holley and efi manifolds? worth pulling the head?

What I mean is it worth pulling the head and having the 3/8 studs added and install 250 chebby rockers? how much hp? this is just a daily driver wanting some more juice

I think at low Rpms like under 1800, A 300 with a good intake small 4bbl, EFI mainfolds or a header and good exh system Will feel like a 351W.
It really does feel like a different engine :!: :!:

Do you recall what the jet sizes are in your carb? Do you have Carter/Weber, or the Holley/Weber progressive?
I have a Weber progressive I want to install soon.
Thanks
