Choke Tube

When I removed my choke tube from my 64.5 mustang Autolite 1100 it was quite short.It seemed that it was just sitting in the hole in the manifold and nothing more.Should it be longer than this?Could it have broken off?It was quite broken looking at the end.

mine crumbled in the middle leaving to ends... I replaced with a hose. It worked but it will be replaced when carb is...

It should be long enough to go from teh choke on the carb to a hole that is on the exhaust manifold. That's all it needs.

I think he was talking about how long the part that sticks in the manifold should be. IIRC, only about 1/2" (more or less) sticks in the exhaust manifold.

The distance in the manifold should be 3/8".
