Clutch Info

I have a 66 200 with the anti rattle spring. Something is causing my clutch to not completely disengage and makes it grind and hum. I am trying to figure out how all of the parts go together/ i get all the parts and for some reason I can't wrap my head around it with diagrams. Does anyone maybe have pics? I plan to change out the tob and check to see if my anti rattle spring and bracket are still in place but any other suggestions are appreciated. It shifts fine it just sounds awful and yesterday in 1st gear at lower rpm is sounded like a garbage disposal. Thanks!

I don't have direct knowledge on this clutch, but I had an experience where I bought an engine from an auto wrecker that had a new clutch on it. When I took the clutch off for inspection, the disk had been installed backwards and the cushion spring pack was rubbing on the flywheel to crank bolt heads. This caused the clutch to not release fully. I think the previous owner eventually started the engine in gear with his foot on the clutch pedal and it lurched forward into a hard obstacle. Then it was sent to the wrecker.

So I should probably tear at all apart. And inspect. I did discover that windy new engine was put in.They left the whole transmission and clutch. So it's actually from a sixty four.

I’m not well versed in Manuel’s, but it sounds to me like a throw out bearing. I would start by loosening the clutch adjustment so pedal goes down 1/2 way before it starts to release the clutch. Then start the engine, note the noise. If no noise, push pedal all the way down, if noise starts again, it is the throw out bearing. The bearing should only spin when the pedal moves down. There should be play at the top of the stroke. That is why it is not good to rest your foot on the clutch pedal. ( or brake pedal for the same reasons)

I did that and there is no noise but once I press pedal there is noise and when I release no noise again. I will plan on replacing the bearing, I assume that is where I need to start.

Yep👍. While the transmission is out, You might want to check the flywheel- maybe have it resurfaced and replace the clutch all at the same time. The you will be good for a kind time
